Dr.Harleen Kaur shares her views as why Introducing Skill Development in Curriculum is important.
As I expressed myself in my last blogs that extracurricular activities are very essential for child's holistic development. Continuing with what I earlier said, activities are very important as they result in skill development and character building in the child. More than studies why skill development is important as it is the driving force in our developing nation. Today if we have to succeed internationally we need skilled force which is presently very much less in the country. Even I also feel, Lot of candidates come to me with their degrees of computer and IT, but when we take the practical session they are not successful. They hardly know about the trouble shooting and how to rectify. A degree from a reputed institution is surely an advantage and acts as an initial impetus. Right from interviews with reputed companies on campus, to the value it carries whenever you introduce yourself. But at the same time, as a student, it is extremely crucial to be “context-wise”
Dr.Harleen Kaur advises all the Parents to choose a school which provides lot of extracurricular activities.
How the Good School is like? According to me , “ A good School is one which provides lot of extracurricular activities besides the rigorous curriculum, which helps the child in skill development.” It has always been a hot topic of debate between educators and parents that extracurricular activities are not as important academics. But I strongly differ as the extracurricular activities are crucial part of child development. As The School Head, I am a strong promoter of extracurricular activities in school, lot of parents come and say me that they will me more happy if the child gets distinction in all the subjects. Bagging trophies for dance or sports at inter school or district level does not prepare them for future career opportunities. And I say How do you say that? Well if you want your child to be an army officer he needs to clear his NDA test (national defense academy)which includes his written test, oral interview and his physical fitness test…

"Inculcating Good Manners in children" While we teach curriculum to the kids let’s not forget good manners, which make them better. So at Mount Carmel International School,Naraingarh(Ambala) We take great care to inculcate the moral values in the children. In simple terms Good Manners means "Well Bred Social Behavior". Well I personally as a mother, or as a teacher think teaching good manners are as difficult as brushing your teeth twice daily. As a Principal of a school I myself have been motivating children to behave well. Here are tested and tried ways to make kids better socially: 1. When entering the house after your work,even if you are tired, greet your children and hug them. This will help in developing their sense of love and self worth. 2.
